AEDP Therapy

I have specialized training in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), a model of therapy that focuses on the transformational nature of relationship in which you and I work together to transform your pain and help you become reacquainted with your authentic self, a place I have come to understand for myself as my soul.  This is that deep place inside of knowing and understanding what is genuinely true for each of us. This is where we feel connection to our true selves, to others and to spiritual selves, which is God for me.  It is the place where we connect to our morals and values. It is this place where we inherently know when something is not right.

What does it stand for?

A – Accelerated– together we co-create and move in quickly to get to experience and emotion fast

E – Experiential– work to help people get away from their cognitions and stories into their bodies or felt experience whether it is relational, emotional or somatic.

D- Dynamic– a bow to the psychodynamic roots of AEDP

P – Psychotherapy

What’s different about AEDP?

AEDP seeks to undo unwilled and unwanted aloneness in the face of overwhelming emotion. It focuses on transformance- the potential and drive for healing.  We are wired to heal, to right ourselves, to grow and transform.

Unlike other therapies, AEDP focuses on what is right not what is wrong.

Healing oriented which means therapy will change the brain and work with symptoms at the level of the body and emotions, so symptoms disappear vs insight oriented which works more with thoughts, in hopes of gaining insight, which leads to improvement in symptoms.

Privileges the positive…work to find what is positive, adaptive, right and true.

Are you ready to try a different model of therapy?

I am here to work alongside you, to grow, strengthen, and heal. If you are interested in learning more about how we can work together, please reach out.

People have a fundamental need for transformation.  We are wired for growth and healing.  And we are wired for self-righting, and resuming impeded growth.  We have a need for the expansion and liberation of the self, the letting down of defensive barriers, and the dismantling of the false self.  We are shaped by a deep desire to be known, seen, and recognized, as we strive to come into contact with parts of ourselves that are frozen.
